THE GREAT LIE ABOUT THE IMMIGRATION MESS

A CBS 60 Minutes interviewer pointed out to VP Kamala Harris that illegal entries across the southern border have quadrupled compared to President Trump’s last year in office. In response, Harris echoed the party line cited by numerous Democrat senatorial candidates by claiming that a “bi-partisan” group of U.S. Senators tried to pass a comprehensive border bill which would have, according to them, “solved” the immigration mess.

The Republican-led House of Representatives had previously passed a genuinely tough border bill (HR2) which would have indeed addressed the actual mess created by the Biden-Harris Administration. The Democrat-controlled Senate refused to take it up. Instead, they got a small group of anti-Trump “Republicans” (along with one lone genuine conservative) to propose a border bill. Democrats continue to call this a “bi-partisan bill,” but the Senate bill failed on final passage due to genuinely bi-partisan opposition to it.

As Senator Ted Cruz has pointed out, this bill would have legalized undocumented immigrants without securing the border, rewarded criminal alien got-aways, and facilitated fraud in the immigration system. It would have codified in federal statute Biden’s open-border tools. These measures would not only have continued the border crisis in perpetuity, but would also have made it much more difficult for any future enforcement-minded president to fix. Perhaps worst of all, it would have also established an “acceptable” standard of up to 5,000 illegals per day! This would have amounted to an additional 1.8 million illegals allowed to enter yearly.

The entire Biden-Harris line that the executive branch is powerless to solve the border problem without congressional action is farcical, at best. Biden himself caused this crisis on day one of his administration when he invalidated all of President Trump’s border executive actions, including the successful “Remain In Mexico” policy. Furthermore, according to Section 8 § 1182(f) U.S. Code, the president has the power to "suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens into the United States" whenever it is determined that such entry would be "detrimental to the interests of the United States," essentially giving the president broad authority to restrict immigration based on national security concerns.

So, can we please dispense with the phony excuses and spin lines about how this is a matter somehow out of reach for the president? Biden, with Harris’ total compliance, completely destroyed our border and with it the sovereignty and security of the United States. Anyone voting for or otherwise supporting the Harris-Walz campaign will be casting a proxy vote for the continuation of this chaos. Hopefully no serious Republican (which leaves out Liz Cheney of course) would even consider voting for Harris.

It’s high time for all Republican candidates for public office to call out the Democrat Party for its hubris and hypocrisy on this vital issue. The November election may be the last chance we have to put an end to this out-of-control federal government.
