We stumbled upon this piece recently and it is worth the read:
John C. Calhoun was one of the only Vice Presidents to serve under two different Presidents, John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson. Hailing from South Carolina and thus a supporter of slavery, Calhoun has been historically dismissed by many. His thoughts on federal government power, democracy, foreign wars, and other trademarks of the Deep State are interesting and useful.
